An Experience at La Mariposa in Costa Rica

To help you get a feeling for what it’s like to enjoy Costa Rica by spending your vacation at the beautiful La Mariposa hotel , we wanted to share this experience from a recent visitor with you:

When we decided to spend our honeymoon in Costa Rica, I really had no idea what to expect. But the moment we landed at the airport in Quepos and all I could see were these amazing trees, I knew we had made the right decision.

We had booked the honeymoon package at the La Mariposa hotel after seeing some of the gorgeous pictures of the hotel on the Internet. And I was not disappointed when we pulled up at the front of the hotel. It really did look like we were surrounded by nature because all we could see around us were trees and an unbelievable view of the Pacific Ocean.

Because we were so exhausted the first night, we shared our complementary bottle of wine while watching the sunset then woke up early the next morning to enjoy our first activity. We were going on a guided tour of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Because my husband and I live in the city, the site of so much nature was awe-inspiring. It was amazing and I filled my digital camera’s memory card with photos, including some of the most adorable monkeys I have ever seen.

That was pretty amazing, too, since I’ve never been that close to a monkey outside of the zoo before. It’s definitely a fun experience.

On the second day, we went out on a boat into the Pacific Ocean. We were very lucky during our trip on the water because we were able to see two whales, and I was able to take some amazing pictures. That was something I never thought a city girl like me would ever have a chance to see.

During out last day, we went on the canopy tour of the rainforest. The view was breathtaking but I was absolutely terrified! My husband loved it, and I didn’t think he’d ever come back down. Finally we spent the last night at La Mariposa enjoying the delicious food at Le Papilion. We had a wonderful meal – I’ve eaten sat some great restaurants because we’re from New York but this was definitely one of the best. And the view was definitely something you wouldn’t find in New York.

If anyone is thinking about going to Costa Rica, do it. It’s beautiful and you’ll have a wonderful, unforgettable time, especially at the La Mariposa.
