Tortuguero Costa Rica

Tortuguero Costa Rica is paradise on earth. Getting To Tortuguero

Tortuguero Costa Rica is a very isolated section of Costa Rica. There are several ways to get here. There are several routes that can be accessed; one through Limon, La Pavona and Cano Blanco. If you are planning to go here, be advised that the best way to reach here is by boat or plane. Nature Air and Sansa both fly to Tortuguero with flights from either airport. Sansa flies from Juan Santamaría Airport and Nature Air flies from Tobias Bolanas International Airport. There are also other combinations such as bus/ water taxi that can be used as well from different locations.

Main Activities in Tortuguero

Tortuguero Costa Rica is full of many activities to do such as Sportfishing and Boat trips for examples. You can also watch the sea turtles hatch and go canoeing and kayaking is full of wonderful activities to do. A visit to The Tortuguero National Park is another way to spend the time pleasantly watching the wildlife. A canal boat ride is another sway to see a side of Tortuguero that you can’t see otherwise. You can also surf the waves and enjoy the surf. There are also several surf schools near here such as Adventuras Bravas.

Attractions in the region

Tortuguero Costa Rica has several places of interest such as the Tortuguero National Park. Boating is the only way to get around in the park. If you are alert, you may be able to see some of the local wildlife such as jaguar, tapir and macaw. There are several areas for hiking but the majority of the Park must be seen by boat. Barra Del Colorado Wildlife Refuge is another point of interest as well as the village of Tortuguero and the Turtle Museum of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation. Night guided walks are available to see the nesting turtles.

Hotels in Tortuguero

Tortuguero Costa Rica has several hotels. The Laguna Lodge is right on Tortuguero lagoon and also offers close access to the town and beaches. Another hotel of note is Pachira Lodge also located in Tortuguero. It is smack in the middle of 34 acres and is a more new hotel. Mawamba Lodge is another location in Tortuguero that is a good one to try. This is located on a sand bar between the Caribbean Ocean and the Tortuguero canals. It offers private trails and an open sky butterfly farm. It also has guest lecturers come in and talk about Tortuguero in the hotel’s conference room.

Places to eat

Tortuguero Costa Rica has many different restaurants for your dining pleasure. Depending upon what you are hungry for, you can find a restaurant to fit the bill. If you are hungry for a variety of food, try the Buddha Café. This restaurant serves some dynamite selections such as Del Mar Spaghetti and Brownie Fantastico. Another restaurant you may want to look into is Miss Miriam, which serves dynamite Caribbean food. Our last restaurant is El Muellicito. This wonderful Costa Rican and Caribbean food restaurant has something for everyone on the menu. So you have many different places to choose from when you are hungry.

Nightlife in Tortuguero

Tortuguero Costa Rica has few arenas for night life. There are at least two places here that offer nightlife to those that visit. Our first location is the Tortuguero Disco. Here is where you can dance the night away. Our second option is two local bars or hotel bars. This is an area that is not as developed due the natural beauty of the area, so in essence there is very little nightlife in the region. Tortuguero Costa Rica is more known for its beauty and remoteness than being known as a hotspot for nightlife in general.
