La Fortuna Costa Rica is a beautiful place to be in Costa Rica. This beautiful town is situated sear Arenal Volcano, which is one of the most active considering that it erupts on average about 41 times per day. The town’s name means literally the Fortune of Saint Charles. It is also located in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. This area temperature wise is a dry and arid climate, as it sits in the lowlands and has a higher temperature than the uplands.
How to Get Here On Holiday
La Fortuna Costa Rica can be reached by car from San Jose, but you will need a good map as not all junctions are marked. This will be a 3 -1/2 hour drive. There are direct buses or you can make a transfer in Ciudad Quesada. There is also a bus directly from Tilaran. You will need a waterproof map for navigating through the roadways when driving from San Jose. You will also need to check with bus stations in order to find out fees and hours of operation for the bus rides to La Fortuna.
Main activities in La Fortuna
La Fortuna Costa Rica is full of wonderful activities to do. Horseback riding is one of those activities and is a good way to really see the wonderful landscape up close. Another place that you want to explore would be the Arenal Butterfly Conservatory located in El Castillo Village. This offers an educational experience bar none of the flora and fauna of La Fortuna. There are also canopy tours courtesy of Mundo Adventura Canopy Tours. Cano Negro Wild Life refuge is another place you would want to visit. This area is rich in diversity and you can see iguanas, sloths, birds and caimans. You also have an option of a floating four hour safari. You can also take a boat ride to Monteverde as well.

La Fortuna Costa Rica also has a number of sites that are good to see. The Arenal Volcano is one such choice. The village of El Castillo on the southwest of the volcano has great views of Lake Arenal and the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Fortuna Waterfall is also another activity that you may be interested in. A visit to the Arenal National Park may also be in order. You will be fascinated with the divergent wildlife here and be awed by the many spectacular sights that this natural park has in store for you. There is also white water rafting expeditions for the more adventurous.

La Fortuna Costa Rica has some wonderful dining options such as Don Rufino. The food is excellent and the restaurant is popular with both locals and visitors alike. Las Nenes carries seafood and Italian food as well as great steaks. Down To Earth is an organic restaurant.This is a good way to satisfy your hunger and at the same time eat something healthy for you as well.
Nightlife in La Fortuna
La Fortuna Costa Rica has a good amount of night life. So if you are a night owl, then we have you covered. If you love casinos, then Luigi’s Hotel and Casino will be just what the doctor ordered. This is a medium size casino that is full of gambling fun. Vagabundo has dancing and pool and is located on the main road towards Tabacon. Volcano Look Disco is the biggest disco in Costa Rica outside of San Jose. So if you love dancing, then this is the place for you. Our last item is Restaurante Rancho La Cascada. This is a very popular weekend night club and one of the few nightlife offerings in La Fortuna.
