Vaccinations if Travelling to Costa Rica

When traveling to a country such as Costa Rica, there are some immunizations that you will need to have before entering the country. These vaccinations for Costa Rica must be done before you travel here. Most of these vaccinations are for dangerous diseases.

Hepatitis A

This vaccination should be given to everyone over one year of age. These vaccinations for Costa Rica must be administered at least four weeks before departure. A booster should be given in 6 months to boost the immunity of the person in question.

Typhoid

This vaccine is recommended for all travelers. These vaccinations for Costa Rica are given as an oral dose, once every four days. These capsules should be taken with cool liquid. This will protect you from contracting typhoid and should be taken as prescribed for maximum effectiveness.

Hepatitis B

This is one of the many vaccinations for Costa Rica that must be done. This is recommended for those who may need injections while abroad or who may have intimate contact with the local residents. This is given at intervals of 0, 1, 2 and 12 months and it is appropriate for travelers leaving in 6 months.

Yellow Fever

This is a disease that is contagious. These vaccinations must be given to those arriving from yellow fever infested countries. Along with these vaccinations, you must be up to date on your measles – mumps – rubella shots as well as tetanus. Chickenpox vaccine is also recommended.

These vaccines are for your safety when traveling either to or from Costa Rica. By immunizing yourself, you decrease the risk of contracting these diseases. By getting immunized before your travel, you develop the immunity required to protect yourself and your family. Keeping your immunization record up to date and with you at all times, will also help you while you travel abroad.
